Tommy Paul and De Bethune A Stylish Collaboration at Wimbledon

Tommy Paul-De Bethune

The worlds of tennis and luxury watches collided in a delightful partnership at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships when American tennis star Tommy Paul showcased the stunning DB28 LTC timepiece from the prestigious Swiss watchmaker, De Bethune.

This collaboration not only highlighted the intersection of sports and high-end fashion but also captured the essence of elegance and precision in both realms. The Instagram post featuring Tommy Paul wearing the DB28 LTC instantly created a buzz among tennis and horology enthusiasts, sparking conversations about the seamless blend of athleticism and sophistication.

The DB28 LTC: A Timepiece Fit for a Champion

De Bethune is renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship and innovative designs, and the DB28 LTC perfectly exemplifies the brand’s commitment to excellence. The watch features a polished grade 5 titanium case with floating lugs, a patented design by De Bethune that enhances comfort and flexibility on the wrist.

The front and back of the case are protected by sapphire crystal with a double anti-reflective coating, ensuring exceptional clarity. The engraved ring in blued circular satin-finish titanium adds a touch of visual intrigue to the timepiece.

With a diameter of 38.7 mm and a height of 7.4 mm, the DB28 LTC strikes the perfect balance between elegance and wearability. Its water resistance of up to 30 meters ensures durability even in adverse conditions.

The watch’s dial features a purple titanium hours ring with transferred Arabic numerals, complemented by a unique random guilloché brass dial in green, featuring a gold-toned titanium tennis ball insert. The polished titanium hands elegantly glide over the dial, enhancing legibility.

The Movement: A Marvel of Innovation

At the heart of the DB28 LTC beats the Calibre DB2005, an in-house mechanical hand-wound movement by De Bethune. With a diameter of 30 mm, the movement consists of 160 meticulously crafted parts.

The self-regulating twin barrel, a De Bethune innovation, ensures a power reserve of 6 days, allowing the watch to accompany its wearer through extended periods without the need for winding.

The movement features a titanium balance with white gold inserts, optimized to withstand temperature differences and air penetration, thanks to another De Bethune patent. The “De Bethune” balance-spring with a flat terminal curve further enhances the watch’s precision and accuracy.

The use of a silicon escape wheel and the triple pare-chute shock-absorbing system, both De Bethune innovations, ensure reliable performance even in demanding conditions. With a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement guarantees exceptional accuracy.

The Collaboration in Action

Tommy Paul, a rising star in the world of tennis, was the perfect ambassador for the DB28 LTC at Wimbledon. Known for his powerful game and vibrant personality, Paul effortlessly showcased the watch’s fusion of athletic durability and refined aesthetics.

The collaboration captured the attention of tennis and horology enthusiasts alike, with the Instagram post garnering widespread admiration and sparking discussions about the seamless integration of sports and luxury.
